SCSI chain
A SCSI CHAIN is a series of SCSI devices connected to an adapter sharing the same data cable chain. A SCSI bus must be terminated at both ends. For systems with either one internal or external SCSI chain, the SCSI bus is terminated at the adapter card and at the device connected to the far end of the SCSI chain. If the SCSI adapter is attached to an internal and external SCSI chain, the SCSI bus is terminated at the devices connected to the far end of both 'SCSI chains'.
For external devices, the devices are commonly daisy-chained together by two separate cables connecting a device to the next device on either side. The device at the far end of the SCSI chain is connected with a single cable and a terminator.
For internal devices, the SCSI chain is commonly a single 50-pin ribbon cable connected to each device (similar to a floppy drive chain). The device at the far end of the 'SCSI chain' is connected to the ribbon cable and is also terminated.
